Madison VA Awarded Grant to Train Vets in Agriculture - The William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital was awarded a grant July 27 to create a training program for Veterans interested in working in the Agricultural field. Using the grant, awarded through the VA Office of Rural Health – Agricultural Training/Behavioral Healthcare Services, the Madison VA aims to increase support for rural Veterans entering or re-entering the workforce in agricultural vocations by partnering with community organizations. Madison VA Receives Awards for Green Initiatives - In recognition for leading the health care industry in sustainability and environmental stewardship, the Madison VA Hospital (VAH) received the 2018 Greenhealth Emerald Award, recognition for greening the operating room, and a spot in the Circle of Excellence for efforts to reduce water consumption. Practice Greenhealth, a nationwide organization dedicated to environmental sustainability in health care, evaluates hospitals each year on their sustainability efforts. The awards were presented to the Madison VAH at the Environmental Excellence Awards Gala on May 9th in San Diego at the conclusion of the CleanMed Conference & Exhibition. (05/17/2018)

Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital in Madison will hold its next regular Quarterly Town Hall meeting for Veterans Monday, May 14th. Vietnam War Remembrance Ceremony to be held at Madison VA - MADISON, Wis. — The William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital in Madison will hold a Vietnam War Remembrance Ceremony March 29th to honor those that served during the Vietnam conflict. The ceremony will take place in the auditorium of the Madison VA hospital at noon. Attending Vietnam Veterans will be offered a Vietnam War Veteran Lapel pin to thank them for their service. Madison VA Provides Critical Care to Puerto Rico - MADISON, Wis. – The William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital welcomed home the last three volunteers who deployed to Puerto Rico to support Hurricane Maria relief efforts on December 13th. Since early September, a total of 20 Madison VA employees volunteered for two week deployments to Puerto Rico and Texas to support the national hurricane response as part of the Disaster Emergency Medical Personnel System (DEMPS). First VA Dementia Friendly Hospital Here in Madison - Madison, WI – Dane County and the Wisconsin Department of Health Services recognized the William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital as the first VA “Dementia Friendly Hospital” at a formal ceremony today. (11/27/2017)

Madison VA to be recognized as Dementia Friendly - Madison, WI – Dane County and the Wisconsin Department of Health Services will recognize the William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital as a “Dementia Friendly Hospital” at a formal ceremony in the main building, room B2055 on November 27th at 12:00 p.m. The Madison VA will be the first VA Medical Center to receive this recognition.
