Consider Supporting Hospitalized Veterans This Giving Tuesday
MADISON, Wis. — With Giving Tuesday on Dec. 3, 2019, the William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital reminds community members, businesses and organizations about the benefits of supporting local hospitalized veterans throughout Madison. Created in 2012, Giving Tuesday is a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate and celebrate generosity before the holidays, and enables participants to turn good intentions into action.
Each year, veterans in need of care spend their holidays at the Madison VA. Many of these hospitalized veterans may not have an opportunity to see family members and friends during the holiday season. On Giving Tuesday and throughout the year, community members, corporate donors and other organizations can support veteran inpatients by making a donation to the William S. Middleton Veterans Hospital and Clinics.
Donations made to the hospital are used to purchase items and services that directly benefit patients. Purchases from donations include, but are not limited to: items for our inpatient craft room, art supplies, television programing, supplies for patient events, clothing for Social Work, and gifts for special holidays
“We take pride in supporting our Veterans during the holidays. This can be a challenging time of the year for many people, and this is even more evident for veterans who are hospitalized and far from their loved ones,” says John Rohrer director of the Madison VA. “Giving Tuesday is a wonderful opportunity to support the needs of our hospitalized veterans this holiday season and throughout the year.”
