National Women’s Health Week is May 11 -17, 2014.

Women’s Health Week is a weeklong observance that promotes women’s health and encourages women to take steps focus on wellness and make their health a priority.  As caregivers, mothers, and daughters, women often put the needs of others before their own.  It is important to support the special women we know and remind them that their health is essential, too.  This year, National Women’s Check-Up Day is May 12, 2014. Women Veterans, please contact your health care providers to plan your next check-up.  It is something you can do for yourself!

Stay healthy with these tips:

• Schedule a visit with your healthcare provider for a check-up and preventive screenings
• Get active
• Eat healthy foods
• Get enough sleep
• Manage stress
• Avoid unhealthy behaviors such as smoking, texting while driving and not wearing your seatbelt or bike helmet.

Visit womenshealth.gov to learn more about your health and preventive screenings for women your age.
